We had the privilege of being able to attend the “reveal” last Sunday. I would like to say to the parents of every student who was a part of this amazing project, that you can be exceedingly proud, as we were, of what was accomplished for this family. We stood in the Todd’s driveway and experienced the electric excitement as this team of students clad in their Poly Home t-shirts waited for the family to arrive. As the Todd’s pulled in, the applause broke out, and the moment they had all worked tirelessly toward was a reality. There have been many occasions that Michael has given us to be proud, but this was the best.
We would like to thank Liz, the contractors who took time out of their own work to be there, the donors of materials and the countless friends, roommates and parents who pitched it. I loved what the gentleman who donated the steel structure for the garage said to me. “It makes you feel good right in your gut, doesn’t it?” Yes it did. What a blessing in times that are hard for all of us to see this outpouring of generosity!

Great idea to capture this entire project in this blog! I have been following it from Day 1 and I really believe that it has given me a window into the project that I would have normally never been exposed to.
As a PolyHouse alumnus, I wish we would have done this for our project. This blog is truly something the students and those involved can come back to and look fondly on.
Thank you to everyone for your commitment and willingness to share your innermost thoughts throughout your experience!
I had the advantage (?) of living through this project vicariously through Liz since it’s inception. My first reaction upon hearing of the scope was “You’ve got to be crazy”, but that consternation was soon converted to amazement. As a proud Cal Poly IME grad, I waited eagerly for a nightly update on the project’s progress (and setbacks).
I also became an avid subscriber to this blog, and have to admit that I have had tears running down my cheek a time or two. Most of you have no idea of the stress that Liz had to compartmentalize, and the faith that she held in her students. To watch the transformation of the Todd home was a miracle to behold. You will hold these memories forever as you look back on the best years of your lives.
Congratulations to everyone involved, especially my lovely wife, who showed the fortitude, faith and determination of which I only wish I had a piece.
Oh, and BTW…. that reveal BBQ was pretty tastey.
I don’t ever think our family could say “thank you” enough or truly express our gratitude for not only the scope of what you guys tackled, but the scope of what you accomplished in such a short time! I have loved reading this blog! Thank you to not only Liz and all you students, but all the contractors, and volunteers who helped feed everyone, and those who helped out!
What a neat experience this whole process has been! From seeing our kids connect with each one of the students in a unique way, to seeing the transformation of our property, to staying in the hotels, to coming on the “reveal” day to our new home! Seeing all the cars, and all the people was not only a sight to behold, but a memory we will always treasure!
It’s just now sinking in, a week later, that there are two NEW structures on our property! We love our Master, and as we start to complete it and move everything in, the more in awe we are!
One of my favorite verses of the bible Matthew 19:28 says “with God all things are possible”…and I think this verse sums up our whole experience with polyhouse! From the garage donation, to my new kitchen cabinets, and mostly the safety of all involved… God truly answered all our prayers! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
